Everyone knows that red+blue=purple. Blending red and blue in the state of Pennsylvania though is not as simple as it sounds. The problem is there are too many variations of red Republicans and Blue Democrats.
If enough of the red Republicans do not cast a vote for the "Celebrity Doctor" Mehmet Cengiz Oz, than his recent "Mehmentum" will not be enough to change the 50-50 senate and overturn Joe Bidens policies.
The current polls have "The Everyman" John Karl Fetterman ahead slightly but it could easily be a toss up with only less than two months until the Nov 8 election. Fetterman is the 34th lieutenant governor of Pennsylvania since 2019 when ran he on the Tom Wolf ticket.
Oz has suffered negative connotations among his base as a "Rino" or Republican in name only. But he has recently gained momentum with attack ads on Fetterman's recent stroke and inability to debate.
Fetterman has been outspent by Oz on t.v ads and has been besmirched for his stance on pardoning those convicted of murder and serving life sentences. He has been quoted as saying "you could let out two thirds of people in prison and the people of Pennsylvannia would not be any less safe."
Some commentators believe the race in Pennsylvania will be a referendum on the recent Supreme Court decision outlawing abortion. It is predicted many women will vote for Fetterman for that reason alone.
Oz is starting to sway more of his base to come over to his side despite his negative image.
So who will win Purple Pennsylvania? My gut tells me Fetterman. However, I am not confident enough to make that prediction. I never know a person's thoughts when they go into the booth to cast their vote.
