Holly Dowell met the definition of an indigent person pursuant to Title 23 4601. Legal-Eagles decided to take her case pro bono.
Holly had worked as a Home Health Care aide and always paid her bills until she had several surgeries and got behind on her rent.
Holly successfully applied and received rental assistance. Although her landlord accepted the first payment of nearly $3000 he filed for eviction against her and would not accept a second payment.
Holly obtained assistance from Community Legal Services here in Philadelphia and obtained a judgement in her favor. She satisfied the judgement and left the premises.
However, the landlord shamefully attributed repairs of damaged blinds and a shower tile in the amount of $2400. This went against her credit report and Holly was turned down from renting when she applied for apartments and became transient.
Legal-Eagles contacted the land lord and found a discrepancy in the repair bill. The landlord acknowledged the repairs were not $2400 but $1200. Even so, Legal-Eagles will dispute that bill with the landlords attorney Sara Lux.
